Hello Wood Design Competition

Dynamics of social interaction between individuals are constantly changing because of contemporary advancements.  Technological improvoments, promoted consumerism and social media are causing individuals to have problems in terms of socializing with each other. Upcoming generations of the digital age will face more problems in terms of social interaction and therefore have to be more communicative, helpful and social than ever.

Design phase of this project was done by

Melis Mısırlıoğlu and Erdem Günsür.

Individuals nowadays are living much more isolated from society than ever before. This inquiry is the result of an ideation process which aims to promote social interaction, converting the idea of  ‘’my home’’ to ‘’our home’’. This proposal offers a potential solution towards encouraging social interaction through a transformative spatial design which differentiates through user interaction and is in constant metamorphosis. The structure offers an experience rather than a shelter. The structure is designed in a way which is waiting to be interacted with. The façade of the structure  is composed of modular pieces which are not just structural elements but festival props (masks&costumes) as well.

A certain level of curiosity is triggered  amongst the users by the lack of  any apparent entry inside the structure. The users are given the chance to ‘’create’’  their own entries.

The power of fire bringing people together as a shield against darkness and cold-which is the primary reason for the existence of the carnival - will prevail no matter how ‘’digital’’  human kind evolves to be.

It is one of the most primal and human feeling to stand together and act as one against odd which prove to be difficult. A fire is lit at the center of the structure to bring people together.
